Headed to Cedele to see what they offer and was pleasantly surprised to see that this outlet has ice cream! (:

 And....they had a Mother's Day cake (:

Around Singapore - a Vanishing Trade...

Went to Great World City for lunch and headed to our regular post-lunch hangout - THAT CD shop - only to find this! 

 ):

 

 THAT CD shop was a huge part of my life, especially before there was YouTube (or the internet for that matter. haha)

Remember heading to this outlet as well as their outlet at Tanglin Mall on Sundays after lunch. It was a real treat to scour the rows and rows of CD for an album that we wanted, or just to see what hidden gems there were.

And of course, getting to buy the CD (back when i was in primary/secondary school), was a rare treat too. 

Remembered that my first few albums were:

 Disney Refresh [This was one of my favourites but I lost it and have been searching for it on iTunes and online but apparently it is no longer produced ): ]

(There are supposed to be CDs here of course. hahha. but they were all sold out as it was the last day) 

Was glad that i stumbled on it on their last day and managed to take some pictures to do a post!

 Animal Felt by The Cotton Shoppe (:

 Got to know of this when a colleague who went for Enabling Village's carnival handed us a poster of the available workshops held at The Art Faculty by Pathlight.

So many interesting choices but no budget $$ ): hahha. 

After much deliberation, decided to pamper myself to this!(:

So headed down last Wednesday to enjoy a mid-week de-stress treat (: 

 Light it up blue! To celebrate World Autism Awareness Month

 

 

 The venue (Art Faculty) is actually a multi-concept venue with a:

 cafe + shop + gallery + workshop areas.

Very quiet, inviting and spacious with the high ceilings.

Perfect for a calm evening of crafting (:

Was initially really surprised as there was only one other participant. (had expected at least 5)

But it turned out to be a good thing as it made for a more intimate evening of chatting and crafting (: 

The course was conducted by an external vendor - Vivian (?) from The Cotton Shoppe and she was really friendly and patient in teaching us (: Really enjoyed the session with her. 

 Each of us got the chance to select 2! (: 1 to do there and 1 to bring home.

Chose the monkey and the seal (:

  Thought 2 hours was more than enough time to finish one... but couldn't finish it in the end! oops. :P

 Immediately finished it up at home that night and here's the finished product! (:

Cuteness overload ♥ Gurashis featured in books

During the past few years, i have gradually rekindled (no pun intended) my old love for reading and books   
only old-school hardcopy ones please! no kindle/internet for me (: 

Especially after i started teaching, the hope that my "kids" will someday realise the joys of reading has made me spends hours in the children's section of bookstores in search for good books for them (:

 Heading down to the library on one of my weekly/fortnightly trips to borrow books for my class' mini "library", I thought: "maybe there are books about Sumikko Gurashi!" (I am a huge fan of these San-x characters ). But i searched to no avail ):

Then...

While browsing at Kinokuniya (JEM) a few days after... I glanced passed the Chinese Section Highlights and saw that it was featuring a Sumikko Gurashi comic book! 

(It felt like a wish come true! 
and in Chinese too! finally something i can actually read!)

And then I happened to be at Takashimaya the week later and i spotted this!

 This was in Japanese though, but still bought it to enjoy the pictures. (:

(The Japanese book seems more like a storybook, unlike the Chinese book which is a comic book, ie: the pages are in comic strip form)

Curious as to whether the Taka branch stocked the Chinese Sumikko Gurashi book, I asked the counter staff and he led me to the 小品 section which had SO many different books based on all the cute characters! Can't believe i had missed this section all along!

...and so my last pick was this!

Always believed that buying books isn't a waste of money as it shows support for the authors/illustrators who write them and helps to keep the bookshop industry alive too!

 (Anyone else misses the HUGE Borders @Wheelock? It was such a big part of my childhood!)
